Homelessness is often the result of many contributing factors. Operating grants provided to eligible non-profit agencies by the Supportive Living Program are intended to prevent and end homelessness
through a "Housing First" approach whereby individuals are housed, with minimal conditions, and provided
individualized supports to foster long-term housing stability.
The Supportive Living Program is an interdepartmental initiative and supports the goals of:
Projects must meet one or more of the following objectives:
- Assist individuals with complex service needs to find and/or remain in safe, affordable, stable housing;
- Support individuals with complex service needs to achieve greater self-determination by supporting the conditions which promote housing stability and wellness; and,
- Support community capacity building, as well as research that will increase community capacity to prevent and address homelessness.
Funded projects will serve individuals who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness.
