Minister offers condolences
to the family of late Albert Vivian
Art Reid, minister responsible for
Newfoundland and
Labrador Housing Corporation, offered his condolences to the family of
the late Albert Vivian who died in St. John's yesterday afternoon. Mr.
Vivian served as the first chairman of NLHC from 1967 - 1978.
"I want to take this opportunity to
acknowledge
Mr. Vivian's work and dedication to the housing industry and in
particular
his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of NLHC,"
said
Mr. Reid. "As commissioner of housing for the province during the
mid-60s,
Mr. Vivian played an integral role in the establishment of the
corporation
and its legislation."
Mr. Vivian's work with NLHC has also had
a deep
and positive effect for so many families throughout this province. He
will
be long remembered for his caring and commitment in providing safe,
comfortable
and affordable housing, and contributing to the economy of this
province
through land development, construction and associated industries in the
housing field.
"On behalf of the Government of
Newfoundland and
Labrador, I offer my deepest sympathy to Mr. Vivian's family and
especially
his daughter Cathy," said Mr. Reid. "Our prayers and thoughts are with
them at this time."
NLHC will fly its flags at half-mast in
Mr. Vivian's
honour.
